Global Stewardship

Building a Sustainable Future Together

Driving Sustainability Through Global Standards

The Sustainable Development Goal (“SDG”) agenda has brought new attention to corporate performance, behaviour, and risk management, creating increased demands for comprehensive corporate reporting. Target 12.6 specifically encourages companies, particularly large and transnational ones, to adopt sustainable practices and integrate sustainability information into their reporting cycles. Transparency is fundamental to this target, as it drives companies to incorporate sustainability into their operations and disclosures. By enhancing our reporting practices, W T K Holdings Berhad (“WTK”) and its subsidiaries (“the Group”) can better understand and manage our contributions to the SDGs, ensuring that our actions align with global sustainability objectives.

Our Reporting Practices

WTK reported our sustainability information referencing the GRI Sustainability Reporting Standards (“GRI Standards”). This framework helps WTK to identify and assess our most significant positive and negative impacts, which we disclosed publicly to enhance transparency and accountability. This process involves ongoing identification and assessment of impacts, enabling WTK to manage these impacts effectively.

Management and Reporting

WTK recognises that businesses cannot thrive amid poverty, inequality, and environmental stress. We align our material topics with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (“UNSDGs”) to drive global change, addressing issues like climate action and social equity. Our Sustainability Statement FY2025 showcases achievements and proactive sustainability approaches. WTK continuously improves reporting to comply with Bursa Malaysia’s requirements and aims to enhance our FTSE4 Good Bursa Malaysia Index rating.

Adopting the National Sustainability Reporting Framework

Malaysia’s Ministry of Finance introduced the National Sustainability Reporting Framework (NSRF) on 24 September 2024, aligning with the IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards (IFRS S1 and S2) issued by the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB). These standards serve as the national baseline for sustainability disclosures and assurance requirements.

The NSRF aims to promote consistent, comparable, and reliable sustainability reporting across corporate Malaysia, enhancing the country’s appeal to global investors. Implementation will follow a phased approach to support broad adoption and improve disclosure quality over time.

As a Group 2 listed issuer, WTK is prepared to adopt IFRS S1 and S2 starting FY2026, with full adoption by FY2028. This reflects our proactive approach in aligning with evolving sustainability disclosure standards and investor expectations.

Our Sustainability Initiatives

Sustainable Palm Oil Production
All oil palm plantations and palm oil mills within the Group are certified under the Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (MSPO) standard, reinforcing sustainability practices throughout the supply chain.
Reforestation
By planting native and fast-growing species, the Group aims to restore harvested areas, support biodiversity, and promote long-term forest sustainability.
Responsible Waste Segregation
Promote responsible waste segregation across all business segments to reduce landfill waste, enhance recycling efforts, and support a cleaner and more sustainable environment.

WTK is enhancing corporate reporting to align with global sustainability goals, particularly Target 12.6 of the UNSDGs, which encourages transparency and sustainable practices. By adopting the GRI Standards and improving disclosures, WTK is better equipped to manage its impacts and contribute to global sustainability objectives. With ongoing efforts like Forest Management Certification, reforestation, waste reduction and efficient operation, WTK drives positive environmental and social change while aligning with international frameworks.
